Field gear return and retro cargo

Back in McMurdo, we cleaned and dried our field base tent, cleaned our thermoses and water bottles, and returned all of the borrowed gear to the BFC (Berg Field Center in McMurdo).


We also packed up all of our science equipment (geophones, nodes, shooting boxes, etc.) for return to PASSCAL, UNAVCO, and/ or shipment back to the USA.

Even for a two week project, we had quite a bit of field gear.

Thwaites Interdisciplinary Margin Evolution (TIME) is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Environment Research Council (NERC) to study the Eastern Shear Margin of Thwaites Glacier in West Antarctica. The project is trying to better understand the response of the glacier to changes in climate and the contributions to sea level rise of this collapsing glacier.
