Resupply ship arrives

We are still awaiting the next available flight out of McMurdo, and this morning the resupply ship arrived and docked outside of McMurdo. This ship, the Ocean Giant, is bringing supplies for the construction of new buildings at McMurdo, support of the McMurdo community, and science and technical groups in future seasons. The Polar Star icebreaker had to escort the Ocean Giant into the docks to make sure she wasn't damaged by the ice.

Thwaites Interdisciplinary Margin Evolution (TIME) is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Environment Research Council (NERC) to study the Eastern Shear Margin of Thwaites Glacier in West Antarctica. The project is trying to better understand the response of the glacier to changes in climate and the contributions to sea level rise of this collapsing glacier.
