A One Day Weather Delay...

We arrived at 10:30AM this morning at the USAP offices for our check-in time to fly to McMurdo, but after a 2-hour delay in our check-in time, our flight was cancelled due to weather in McMurdo.

We checked the web cam in McMurdo:

The weather looks a bit hazy on the McMurdo web cam...

All of our luggage gets tagged, and we will complete a Departure Card for Antarctica (when we actually fly).

We left our checked bags at the USAP offices and checked back into the hotel. All bags are tagged as Carry-On Bags, Check-In Bags, or Boomerang Bags. If we turn around mid-flight, we will only get our Boomerang Bag and Carry-On Bags back in Christchurch. The other checked bags will remain palletized on the C-130 plane.

My full luggage cart of gear, including the warm boots and jacket I have to wear on the plane.

The USAP offices have luggage carts to assist with moving around our gear.

What would you eat for your last meal before heading to the Frozen Continent?

I bought a tub of yogurt and a container of fresh summer New Zealand blueberries... delicious! There will be very little fresh fruit and vegetables at McMurdo Station and WAIS Divide, so I might have to buy another container of blueberries to eat en route to the airport tomorrow morning!

Yum! Fresh NZ blueberries!

Yeah, buy as many packs of blueberries as you can pack with you on the plane. I bet you can sell them and make a killing! ;) Sounds like such an adventure. So cool!
